William Kenney - 3D/2D Artist

BIO:

I have been creating art of some form or another since I can remember. As a child, I was always fascinated with the cartoons that I saw every Saturday morning. Somewhere I still have those early drawings I did of characters from the cartoon Battle of the Planets (Gatchaman in Japan). At this time I also discovered Frank Frazetta and his paperback covers. Many of the books that I bought back then were purchased for the cover art.

I got into comic books in high school and really developed a love for the art form. I have self-published some of my own books (Payne, Demonwolf) over the years and plan to continue creating comics. Soon, I plan to release my comics in digital form.

I have also done work in the trading card industry, creating sketch cards for Breygent Marketing for 3 different card sets: Golden Age of Comics, Science Fiction/Horror Poster Series and Woodstock Generation Poster Series. A few different advertising agencies have hired me to do work as well.

In the 90's, I tried my hand at 3D art. Starting out with Bryce and Poser, I got a feel for how things work in 3D. I always tried to create images that didn't look stock. I've seen too many images where the creators use models straight out of the box. I have always created custom models and textures to make my images stand out from the rest. A few years later and I was diving into the higher-end software. I now create my images using Maya and most of my textures are created using Photoshop.

I also paint images digitally using Photoshop or Painter and a Wacom Graphic Tablet. Most of my comic book art is colored in this way.

I hope you enjoy the art on my site. If you have any comments or questions, feel free to drop me an email and I'll respond as soon as possible.

Thank you,

William Kenney
